This page contains useful information about school procedures as well as a number of handy forms that parents can download.
Attendance and punctuality is encouraged and closely monitored. If your child is going to be absent from school – please write a note or contact the office via phone on the day of the absence.
Children in Foundation, Grade 1, 2 or 3 who are unsupervised by an adult, are too young to ride bicycles to school alone. If your child is riding a bicycle or scooter at any time, an approved helmet MUST be worn. Secure bike storage is available at the school in our lockable shed.
Information on eligibility for bus travel is available at the
General Office and included in your enrolment package. A note is
required when a child, who is normally a school bus traveller, will not
be travelling on the school bus. (Bus notes available from notice
board in the foyer).
Other arrangements out of the ordinary regarding bus travel, must be
arranged with with the bus co-ordinator at the Orbost Secondary College
before 11am the previous day.
Contact Orbost Secondary College on 5154 1084 and ask for the Bus Cooordinator.
If you drive your child to school or collect them after school by car 5 Minute Drop Off Zones are available on the school side of Ruskin Street. Before and after school are busy times, and by using the school side of Ruskin Street for delivery and collection of children, means that children do not have to cross the busy road.
It is of vital importance that we have current contact numbers for all parents and emergency contacts. Contact details can and should be updated through Compass.
Orbost Primary School endeavours to keep expenses to a minimum. All requests for payment will be fair and reasonable and in keeping with the DET Policies. You can pay your fees online using the school banking details below:

Health regulations require that where a child has head lice, that child should not return to school until the day after appropriate treatment has started. Please note that this refers only to those children who have live head lice and does not refer to head lice eggs. A consent form is signed by parents upon enrolment at the school that gives permission for inspections to take place. The school community is notified when a case of headlice is detected to ensure precautions can be taken.
Infectious diseases require exclusion from school as infections spread quickly. Click here to see a table detailing the minimum period of exclusion from Primary School for children with an infectious disease.
Children are not permitted to leave the school early or at any time during the school day unless the parent has made a direct request, preferably in writing, to either the child’s class teacher or the principal. If your child normally goes home for lunch, one request at the beginning of the year is sufficient.
Please sign the Absence Book in the foyer if a student is leaving the school for a music lesson, doctor or dental appointment noting reason and if the child will be returning to school that day.
Children with asthma and anaphylaxis must have an up to date management plan lodged with the school. If your child needs to take medication for any reason please contact the school to discuss how this will be managed as per our medication policy.
